Support Prairie iGEM

Help Manitoba students compete on the world stage.

Prairie iGEM is a student-run team with real research costs, real travel expenses, and real community reach. Every donation, sponsorship, and in-kind partnership directly shapes what our team can take on next season.

Why support matters

Support helps Prairie iGEM show up, present its work, and represent Manitoba in person.

Donate to the team

Prairie iGEM runs an official University of Manitoba crowdfunding page for our travel fund to the iGEM Grand Jamboree in Paris. Contributions are managed through the university, which means donation receipts are handled formally and every dollar reaches the team.

Donations are processed by the University of Manitoba; tax receipts issued by UM following their standard process.

Where your support goes

Research costs

Consumables, reagents, kits, and custom DNA synthesis for wet-lab work.

Conference travel

Flights, accommodation, and registration for the annual iGEM Grand Jamboree.

Outreach & education

Materials and programming for Manitoba schools, events, and community engagement.

Team operations

Web, wiki, media production, printing, and the dozens of small costs that keep a team running.

Sponsor the team

Sponsorships support the full project cycle and appear alongside our work at the Grand Jamboree and across outreach. Tier details are shaped per season based on team needs — let's talk.

Community partner

Recognition on our website and annual team communications. A great fit for local partners who want to back Manitoba student science.

Project sponsor

Deeper recognition on project deliverables (wiki, poster, video) plus alignment with a specific project theme.

Title / lead sponsor

Top-tier visibility across the Grand Jamboree presentation, co-branded outreach, and opportunities to meet the team.

In-kind partnerships

Not every meaningful partnership is a cheque. In-kind support often makes the biggest difference:

  • Lab access or shared equipment time.
  • Discounted reagents, consumables, or DNA synthesis.
  • Data / compute resources for the modeling subteam.
  • Mentorship, workshops, or guest talks for the team.
  • Media production support (photo, video, design).

Prairie iGEM alumni

Past team members have gone on to grad programs, industry research, and medicine. Staying connected matters. Whether that's mentoring a subteam, giving a talk, or quietly donating each season.

Industry & research partners

We actively seek partners whose work aligns with the current project theme. If your organization has reagents, data, or expertise that would help a student team punch above its weight, we'd love to talk.

Your support shapes what's possible.

Donate, sponsor, or partner — every level moves the team forward.
